Currently there are three classes of membership: Regular , Student and Affiliate/Retired Nurse. Although our membership is primarily comprised of nurses, our constitution allows membership for persons with education and/or experience in the health care field. In 1980, Operating Room Technicians were accepted into some Locals.  The inclusion of all categories of nurses (Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Psychiatric Nurse and Graduate) together in common bargaining units, has resulted not only in increased unity and bargaining strength, but also in improvements in communication, working relationships and quality of care.
