Province Provides Update on Flu Fight

The government of Manitoba released their 7th Flu Bulletin since September 29th yesterday, updating Manitobans on the current vaccine supply and on the status of the flu spread in Manitoba. According to the bulletin 160,000 doses of the vaccine have been given out so far, with 31,000 shots being administered per day at peak capacity.

RRC Offers Special One-Time Program for LPNs to become RNs

Red River College is offering a special, one-time opportunity to LPNs to complete their accelerated RN diploma program. The session, beginning in May of 2011, is the final offering of the accelerated RN diploma program before the switch to the new degree program is complete.

Selinger Meets with Nurses During First Week in Office

selinger_shaking_hands.jpgMeeting with Manitoba nurses was at the top of the new Premier's agenda as he began his first week in office. Minister of Health Theresa Oswald joined the Premier and MNU President Sandi Mowat last Wednesday for a lunch meeting with nurses from St. Boniface Local 5, which is in Premier Selinger's constituency.

H1N1 Update and Links

The second wave of H1N1 has begun. Though very few recent cases have been confirmed in Manitoba, there have been outbreaks in BC and Ontario, and flu activity across the country is on the rise.

MNU is monitoring the situation closely and has been pushing the government to make sure healthcare workers are properly prepared and protected. Click read more for some links to valuable resources for nurses.

Health Innovations Conference hosted in Winnipeg

MNU President Sandi Mowat will talk about the role of unions in health innovation at an upcoming conference in Winnipeg.

The Health Innovations: Developing and Celebrating Innovations in Healthy Living and Health Care Delivery Conference will take place November 25 and 26 at the Winnipeg Convention Centre.

CFNU Meets Minister Oswald about H1N1
