By-law #1 - AMENDED All proposed changes to the board structure were deleted, with the exception of the following:
Keynote Address
Gemini-Winning CBC News Anchor and CBC News' Senior Investigative Correspondent Diana Swain delivered the keynote address:The Big Impact of Quiet Leadership: A Challenge to Lead in Ways You've Never Thought Of.
Swain told stories which focused on the exceptional everyday people who realize that true leadership does not take the easy path;that it involves "hacking through the tall-grass of challenge to forge a new path."
She said that leadership belongs to those who persevere and continue to work, even when the spotlight has passed. Above all, it falls to all of us.
Yellow Ribbon Awards
The following individuals were awarded the Yellow Ribbon for their outstanding contributions to the health care system, to their union and their communities.
Maria Veronica Pasia, showed strength of character and courage when she stood up for herself and colleagues from Kildonan Personal Care Centre who were wrongfully dismissed.
Terry Wareham, rallied the nurses at the Minnedosa Hospital when overtime and workload became unmanageable,and eventually the facility saw the permanent addition of a new evening nurse.
Bluma Levine, a MNU member for over 15 years, is always advocating for her colleagues and clients. Her motto is to always keep the "human element" in everything she does as a nurse and a union member.
Vice president election results
Delegates at the 36th annual general meeting elected Donna McKenzie as MNU's new vice president.
