BCNU withdraws from CFNU
On Monday, August 22nd, BCNU's Council voted unanimously to withdraw from CFNU. BCNU's process to expand its membership to include licensed practical nurses contravenes the Canadian Labour Congress constitution.

The following is a message from Linda Silas, president, Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions (CFNU) regarding BCNU's decision to withdraw from CFNU.

For CFNU's National Executive Board, this is a difficult time, but a time where we are focused on our future and on making it a stronger future.

In the last 30 years we have seen provincial nurses unions across the country join CFNU and some have had to leave for a period of time when provincial union objectives differ from national goals.

As your national president, I commit to meeting our challenges as we stay focused on being your national voice to improve our workplaces and our public health care system.

I encourage you to get in touch with your provincial union with any questions and concerns you may have about BCNU’s decision to withdraw from CFNU at this time.
