Knowledge transfer conference
Earlier this month, MNU President Sandi Mowat along with Marilyn Ekelund, Barbara Rider and Deanne O'Rourke attended the Knowledge Transfer Conference in Ottawa.


The conference was attended by individuals from all 10 of the Research to Action projects across Canada (employers, unions, government reps, project coordinators and few nurses who participated in the projects).


Each project was asked to provide a 20 minute presentation to the conference on what they hoped to achieve, what they did achieve, the nurses’ perspectives and legacy/sustainability of the project.


Marilyn Ekelund,a protege(new nurse) in the project is a LPN at Tache Centre who was paired with Barbara Rider (mentor),RN from Tache Centre. Ekelund, Rider and Deanne O'Rourke (Manitoba's RTA coordinator) presented on Manitoba's project which was focused on long term care.


There were also representatives from Health Canada, the Canadian Nurses Association and a few other governmental/advocacy groups. Linda Norton,the Director of Care/Executive Director at River Park Gardens PCH, attended the conference as a representative of the WRHA (the employer partner in the Manitoba project).
