Mowat Tours H1N1 Vaccination Clinic

MNU President Sandi Mowat visited the H1N1 Flu Vaccination Clinic at Portage Place on Thursday, checking in on nurses who've been hard at work the last few weeks administering thousands of flu shots.

"This is such a huge task" said Mowat, referring to the plan to immunize as many Manitobans as possible before the second wave is in full swing. "It makes me very proud to see all these nurses putting in the long hours to get these people vaccinated."

Mowat toured the different stages of the clinic with Public Health Nurse Bluma Levine and chatted with many of the nurses working at the clinic.

With approximately 14-15 nurses working at any given time at 12 public sites around the city, the total number of nurses giving shots in Winnipeg alone easily approaches 200.

"Working with different nurses from around Winnipeg and getting to know them has been really nice" said Levine.

Nurses have administered more than 200,000 flu shots since the beginning for the vaccine rollout.
