The Manitoba Centre for Health Policy has released another study, this one in conjunction with a provincial government announcement on a renewed plan for long term care.
The MCHP study, "Population Aging and the Continuum of Older Adult Care in Manitoba",looks at the variety of options available for Manitobans as they age and require more care and assistance. It looks at population aging in Manitoba, current Personal Care Home Use and projects future use through 2031. The report also presents a new tool or strategy for classifying the care needs of those in Personal Care Homes. The tool looks at care needs in four areas: Daily activities, cognitive performance, incontinence and behavioural challenges. Based on this, the tool provides 13 categories of care requirements to assist with planning for care and future requirements. The full MCHP report and summary |
