The Manitoba Federation of Labour (MFL) is hosting its Health and Safety Conference on February 1 and 2, 2024, at Canad Inns Polo Park and the early bird deadline for registration is coming up fast!
This conference provides worker-focused education and tools to union activists to help them be more effective joint health and safety committee members and union advocates for health and safety in the workplace. There will be numerous workshops offered on topics such as Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace, Supporting Injured Workers with WCB claims, and Workplace Violence and Harassment: Strategies for Prevention and Response.
The early bird deadline is December 8, 2023, with the fees set as follows: for those registering from Winnipeg and the southern Manitoba region it is $225, and for those North of the 53rd parallel it’s $150. After the early bird deadline, those fees will increase by $50 to $275 and by $25 to $175 respectively.
For our worksites /locals, a reminder that those MNU members who sit on your Health and Safety Committee may be entitled to two days off paid by the Employer – please check your collective agreement – and this conference is a great opportunity for them to learn more about this important topic.
