The Winnipeg ICE hockey team is giving back to the community and nurses are the recipients of their generosity during National Nursing Week, May 10 to 16!
The team launched its More than a Ticket Campaign last spring. For every season ticket renewed or purchased during the time of the campaign, this campaign sees 15% of the net proceeds allocated to be donated to COVID-19 relief organizations and a season ticket donated to front-line workers in the community to attend a game in the 2021-22 Season.
The Winnipeg ICE recently announced that they selected the Manitoba Nurses Union to receive $3,000 of the funds raised, and plan to honour and recognize nurses at a Winnipeg ICE Game next season. More information on how to receive game tickets to the allocated game will be shared closer to the date of the event, which will take place next season when public health regulations allow it.
Thanks to the Winnipeg ICE, MNU received 28 VISA gift cards in the amount of $100 that MNU members have a chance to win, with the goal of the gift cards being to help support self-care and promote positive mental health.
All MNU members were entered into the draw and the winners were selected in a random draw. The list has been posted to the Member Portal. If you are unsure of your MNU Member ID to get into the Portal, please contact membership@manitobanurses.ca
The Winnipeg ICE are encouraging the winners to use the gift cards to promote positive mental health in a variety of ways: by participating in an active lifestyle, such as taking an online yoga class; eating well by ordering in from a local restaurant; or by doing something that increases enjoyment and lowers stress, such as purchasing art or baking supplies.
The Winnipeg ICE thanks all health care workers, and are very excited to give back to Manitoba nurses and welcome them to a game next season.
MNU thanks the Winnipeg ICE for their kindness and consideration for the well-being of all MNU members!
