MNU Fall Education Conference
This year’s Fall Education Conference will be held virtually via Zoom on October 6, 2022.
We will begin our day with a 60-minute discussion panel featuring activists from our community, confirmed is Scott Oake of the Bruce Oake Recovery Centre, Angela Taylor from Inspire Community Outreach, Levi Foy from Sunshine House Winnipeg, Linda Silas, President of Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions and Darlene Jackson, President of MNU.
The panel discussion, “Raise Your Voice,” will focus on turning up the volume to be heard. We will discuss challenges and successes as our guest’s garnered attention of not only their target audience, but the greater public, as well.
Our keynote speaker, Francoise Mathieu, has spent 20 years in the field of mental health and has become a sought-after speaker on topics such as burnout, empathic strain, compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, high stress workplaces, self-care, and provider wellness.
Finally, our afternoon will be an opportunity for members, especially those new to union education, to learn some important aspects of Local leadership. All attendees will be split into breakout rooms of their choice. Topics include: Grievance and Arbitration, WSRs, and Intro to New Executives. Sessions will be 3.5 hours in total including a 30-minute break. Each session will be recorded and posted on the MNU website for all MNU members to access after the event.
