At Manitoba Nurses Union, we're all about building a strong, supportive community. When you engage with us on social media, you're part of that community. These guidelines are here to make sure our social media channels stay safe, respectful, and inclusive for everyone.

How We Use Social Media

MNU uses social media to unite our members and amplify our voices. We share stories, data, and calls to action to empower our nurses and push for real change in Manitoba’s healthcare system.

When We’ll Respond

We see you! We read all your messages, posts, and comments. We may respond when appropriate, but keep in mind that our accounts are closely monitored during business hours, Monday to Friday.

When You Violate the Guidelines

We want to keep things respectful. We encourage questions, concerns, and conversations around our posts, but if you stray off-topic, spread misinformation, or cross the line into disrespect, we’ve got tools to keep things in check. That might mean hiding or restricting posts to keep the conversation on track.

And let’s be clear—abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or hateful comments will not be tolerated. If you cross that line, expect your posts to be hidden or removed, and you might get blocked, banned, or reported.

Keeping It Respectful

We stand by our values. We’re here to create a positive, engaging space, and we need your help. Here’s how you can do your part:

  • Act with empathy. Behind every post and comment is a real person. Treat people how you’d want to be treated.
  • Stay on topic. Stick to the subject at hand and contribute meaningfully.
  • Share feedback. We love respectful criticism—it helps us learn and grow. Drop a comment, DM us, or email comms@manitobanurses.ca.
  • Tell your story. Your experiences matter. Share them—they’re what connect us and drive change.
  • Use inclusive language. Our community is diverse, and our language should reflect that.
  • Be mindful of your words. Remember your professional duties and the expectations of your licensing body. Don’t share confidential information about employers, patients, clients, or residents to the public.
