MNU Continuing Education Scholarship
Looking to sharpen your skills and take your nursing career to the next level? The MNU Continuing Education Scholarship offers five $2,000 scholarships each year for nurses enrolled in degree or post-degree programs. Online and distance courses are covered too—so you can study from anywhere.
- Eligibility: RN, LPN, RPN members in any year of their program.
- Application Deadline: May 31 each year.
Keith Lambert Memorial Labour Fund
If you’re interested in labour studies, this fund is for you. In memory of Keith Lambert, a champion for nursing and labour rights, this fund provides up to $1,000 every three years to support members in advancing their labour education.
- Eligibility: All MNU members.
- Funding: Up to $1,000 once every three years.
Joyce Gleason Memorial Scholarship
If you’re a first-time nursing student, this scholarship can give you a head start. Each year, we award four $1,500 scholarships to students at Manitoba institutions. It’s a simple way to get some financial support as you start your nursing career.
- Eligibility: First-time nursing students only.
- Application Deadline: October 15 each year.
CFNU Scholarship
The Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions also offers a $1,000 scholarship annually to nursing students. If you apply for the Joyce Gleason Scholarship, you’re automatically considered—no extra steps required.
- Eligibility: Applicants of the Joyce Gleason Memorial Scholarship.

Important Note on Employer-Sponsored Educational Development
As a reminder, all nurses are entitled to $200 per fiscal year to attend approved workshops, courses, and other programs that are relevant to nursing practice. This is a benefit negotiated by MNU but paid for by your employer. To access these funds, simply reach out to your direct supervisor for guidance.
