At MNU, we deeply value your hard work and commitment to our healthcare system, and we want to ensure you understand why provincial dues are increasing and how provincial dues are set.
What’s Changing?
Beginning April 1, 2026, the MNU provincial dues portion will change to $37.11 per pay period.
This aligns with general wage increases and helps us stay ahead of inflation—a reality we all face.
Why Are Dues Increasing?
We understand that any increase can be challenging, but this adjustment ensures we can continue to provide the essential services through our Provincial Office that our members rely on:
- Member Representation: Advocacy for grievances, arbitrations, workplace safety, health, and human rights.
- Education and Resources: Events, tools, and training opportunities to keep you informed and empowered.
- Communication and Campaigns: Website, social media, and strategic communications to amplify your voice.
- Government Relations: Lobbying efforts to uncover the realities you face and push for meaningful changes in healthcare.
- Strike/Reserve Fund: Building our financial readiness to ensure fair compensation for members in the event of job action.
How Are Dues Rates Set?
Union dues rates are determined by members through MNU’s democratic processes.
Dues rate proposals are brought forward by members and voted on at the appropriate level of the organization.
For example, the provincial dues rate is brought to MNU's Annual General Meeting for discussion and a vote by voting delegates. Based on the outcome, the motion is either passed or defeated, and the dues rate is set accordingly.
The same process applies at the regional and local/worksite levels. Dues proposals are brought forward by members and decided by a vote of members at those respective levels.

MNU Remains Competitive
Even with this increase, MNU dues are still among the most competitive in Manitoba and across the country, and your investment in MNU goes straight back into supporting and protecting you as a healthcare professional.
Looking Ahead
We are proud to be a service-based union, working hard each day to ensure you feel supported in all aspects of your professional life. This dues adjustment allows us to build a stronger, more powerful MNU that is ready to advocate for you today, and prepared for tomorrow’s challenges.
We appreciate your understanding and continued trust in MNU. We are always here for you.
